These beautiful rough chunks of yellow, blue and verigate Tiger’s Eye are perfect for lapidary hobbyists! They feature excellent chatoyancy, making them visually striking. Tiger’s Eye is a chatoyant gemstone, typically a metamorphic rock with a golden to reddish-brown hue and a smooth, silky sheen. As part of the Quartz family, Tiger’s Eye and the related blue variety, Hawk’s Eye, get their lustrous appearance from the parallel growth of Quartz crystals and the transformation of amphibole fibers into Limonite. Our Tiger’s Eye is primarily sourced from the Northern Cape of South Africa. This mountain range is over 3.5 billion years old.. It is typically found in thin bands of golden, blue, or red, with the blue and red varieties being much rarer. Other banded or mixed-color forms appear occasionally. Prices depend on the quality of the material. The pieces are as shown.
